Deepak Chahar & Saurav Ganguly – Will they be called?
The 19 year old pacer Deepak Chahar contributed the most for the victory of Rajasthan in Ranji Trophy. Presently he is a member of the Rajasthan Royals. Chahar was of great demand during the team finalization of IPL franchises and Deccan Chargers as well as Mumbai Indians were trying to absorb him for the IPL season 4. However, being a cricketer from Rajasthan, Chahar considered Rajasthan Royals as his home team and joined them. However, he was kept as a reserve of RR and was informed that he will be called to play if required. Sachin Tendulkar personally took an initiative to bring Chahar into the Mumbai Indians but, did not succeed.
Being a player kept as reserve, Deepak Chahar didn’t get much attention from the coaches of Rajasthan Royals. On April 15, Chahar packed his belongings and left for his native place to practice under his coach. Chahar has informed that he will come back if called for.
Since the present position of Rajasthan Royals is below satisfactory level, Chahar has more chances to be called back. Captain of RR, Shane Warne advised him to continue practicing and told him that there is every possibility to call Chahar back since there are many matches to be played.
A number of Sri Lankan players have been made as team members and captains by the franchise teams of IPL based on an understanding between BCCI and SLC that the Lankan cricketers will be with IPL till May 22. But, the sudden decision of SLC to ask their players to return home on May 5 has sent a shock wave throughout the ipl live scenario.
However, former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly can be a beneficiary of this crisis. In case the captain of Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Mahela Jayawardene has to quit IPL at an earlier date due to the sudden decision of SLC, the desk will be cleared for Saurav Ganguly to lead KTK in the forthcoming matches.
In a latest development, SLC has agreed to extent the date of return for Sri Lankan players by another 10 days so as to avoid a difficult situation. Hence it is not possible to predict now whether Ganguly’s waiting will be fruitful or futile.
